Amazon logistics becomes mandatory shipper on seller-fulfilled prime

There is a new twist in the tale of Amazon’s expanding delivery network. Soon, Amazon Logistics becomes mandatory for sellers using Seller-Fulfilled Prime.

Amazon has added itself as a mandatory carrier on Seller-Fulfilled Prime (SFP) – making Amazon Logistics mandatory and the only option for UK sellers.

It has also made parcel delivery company DPD the mandatory carrier for SFP in Amazon Germany.

This latest move is part of Amazon’s quest to become a major logistics player and the sole carrier for Amazon orders. We predicted this move by Amazon in our eBook. Listed as AMZL (Amazon Logistics), Amazon is not yet covering all UK postal codes. This means sellers will still have multiple options for some destinations.

More information about these changes are available to SFP users in the delivery service section of Amazon Seller Central.

About Seller-Fulfilled Prime

Amazon launched Seller-Fulfilled Prime in 2015 to allow self-fulfilled Amazon sellers to make their products eligible for Prime. However, the service is currently available in the US, UK and Germany only.

However, Amazon Prime customers are Amazon’s premium customers. On average, they spend $1100 per year on Amazon compared with $700 for non-members.
