Beware competing with Amazon when they have no stock

XSellco’s Intelligent Price Manager has a unique feature which checks if Amazon has stock available before you compete with their price.

You can chose to ignore amazon in the Price Manager by selecting the tick box to only compete with Amazon when they are in stock (see below)

Why should I be aware of this?

For many products Amazon will try and force the price down EVEN when they have no stock available. Take this example for a paddling pool which is selling fast in the summer months (see screen shot below).

Amazon have no stock available, and they still show up in the seller list attempting to force prices down. Given that this type of purchase in the summer months is an impulse purchase, people are likely not to wait for Amazon to be back in stock in 2 weeks, and therefore it make sense NOT to compete with them.

This is a very common tactic employed by Amazon, particularly in fast moving seasonal products like toys at Christmas.  Make sure you don’t fall in to Amazon’s trap attempting to force your price down!
